| FAQs How
do you tune it?
The pedal stops and strings tune with standard American size Allen
Keys (5/32” and 7/64” respectively). They are available
at just about any hardware store if you lose the included tuning
tool that incorporates both sizes.
Changer on the left side? Are you nuts?
Maybe I am nuts. But I like to be able to tune strings and changes
with my left hand as I pick with my right. Furthermore, I can build the guitar with a solid bridge in the style of an electric guitar or lap steel. The strings do not care which end is pulled.
How many raises and lowers are possible
on the Moyo?
It is possible to add many raises and/or lowers to the same string,
especially if they tune to identical pitches (they share a pedal
stop). However, there are limitations to how many tuners can be
utilized on the left endplate; it depends on the copedant. Confused?
Email me your copedant (tuning, pedal and knee lever setup) and
we’ll talk.
How hard is it to change the copedant
(pedal/knee lever setup)?
It is moderately difficult, not recommended for the compleat idiot.
However, the somewhat mechanically inclined can manage it. Once
it is set up properly it will seldom if ever need adjustment other
than tuning the strings.
Where can I check out a Moyo in person?
Right now pretty much only in Denver where they’re built.
That’s a weird looking pedal steel!
That’s not a question, but I will respond. Pedal steel guitars
have been ready for an alternative look for some time. The Moyo
is one of many options. Even so, let’s face it: most non-players
won’t even notice the difference. And who says a pedal steel can't be a work of art?
